They both contain antioxidants, and coffee is linked to a decreased risk of depression, while tea may lessen anxiety. Follow these tips to get the most benefit out of your morning drink.

  • Caffeinated coffee and tea have the most benefits, but if you are sensitive to caffeine, have digestive issues or have sleep or anxiety issues, reach for the decaf.
  • Take your drinks black—adding milk or sugar products can interfere with the healthy compounds found in these drinks.
  • Filter your coffee. Without it, your drink will have an oily residue that can raise your “bad” LDL cholesterol.
