The Supreme Court (SC) has accepted an intra court appeal filed by the counsel of Prime Minister Youuf Raza Gilani, Barrister Aitza Ahsan in contempt case for hearing, Geo News reported.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry issued a short order saying the hearing could not be fixed on the requested date of February 10 because of prior engagements and could be fixed for February 09.
According to the media reports, Aitzaz Ahsan has agreed to the SC offer. A nine-member larger bench of the apex court would hear the appeal.
Barrister Aitzaz filed the appeal against the apex court’s order summoning the Prime Minister Gilani on February 13 to charge-sheet him in the contempt of court case.
In the appeal, he has pleaded before the court to set aside its order of February 2 as well as recall the contempt notice served on him for not implementing the court’s order on the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
