Going to the movies was once something that we all looked forward to, but times have changed. It used to be that the only way to see the latest films was to visit your local movie theater. At present the capacity to Download I Am Love Movie Free Online has literally transformed how we feel about watching our favorite movies. Go back in time and watching a movie at home meant that you had to get the VCR out and watch it on a TV that was more console than screen. The kids would often huddle up in front of the TV on the floor just to be able to see everything in the movie. Today’s 50+ inch plasma screens would dwarf the TV sets we used to use a few years back. New movies were always released on a Friday, and the only way to see Continue Reading…

The promos were smartly cut, which raised the bar for Sajid Khan’s next after HEY BABBY. Sadly, the final product does not match up to the build-up created by the promos. But what Sajid has done with the slick promos is make sure that at least the first week is housefull.

The story is as bland as dal without a tadka. It’s about a loser who is a panwati. Aarush (Akshay Kumar) is that badnaseeb whose very presence makes things go haywire for those around him. When he finally marries a girl, he thinks his run of bad luck will end. In fact, it begins with renewed vigour as she leaves him for an Italian and off goes Aarush into the deep seas of Italy where he is saved by another beauty. Has he found his love? Has his streak of bad luck ended? It is this thin premise that Sajid hangs his entire comedy on.

This is one more of those ‘leave your brains behind’ Continue Reading…

When you walk into a multiplex and are informed that there is no other person in the auditorium other than you, there are no reasons to be elated. It only turns out to be a repeat situation of many a film released during last couple of months when you watched a film all by yourself in a theatre which was on the verge of cancelling the show until you flashed your card of being a film reviewer.

So what is it that works for ‘CHASE’? Well, a few well executed action sequences, a couple of twists and presence of two hot bods (Udita Goswami, Tarina Patel) that should engage audiences, especially at single screens in B and C centres.

How do the stunts work? Well, after a ‘Dhoom’ inspired opening credit roll sequence comes a chase sequence which involves a perceived criminal being pursued by cops on busy Mumbai streets. Frankly, these 15 odd minutes do keep you hooked to screen as the protagonist does Continue Reading…

Director Parmeet Sethi’s Badmash Company has no meat. It’s superfluous and at times has plots that are unbelievable. It’s about three friends and their quest to get rich. On their way to Bangkok, as ‘carriers’ for a smuggler, they are introduced to another, a girl who is also on the same mission. Thus begins the journey of the quartet of Shahid Kapoor, Meiyang Chang, Vir Das and Anushka Sharma.

Their plans to get-rich-fast are hackneyed and hilarious. First, they import shoes from Bangkok. Reebok, to be precise. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, the movie is set in 1994, when this city was called Bombay and there was import duty of 120 percent on shoes. They ask for delivery of all ‘right’ shoes to one destination and the ‘left’ to another. They refuse to pick up the consignment and at the auction by the Customs, they pick it up in scrap, match the ‘right’ with the ‘left’ and sell of the shoes without paying the Duty and make Continue Reading…

There’s everything wrong with BUMM BUMM BOLE. If it is targeted for kids, that is. It begins with a bomb blast, moves on with an attempt to rape and has some scary sound effects enough to drive a kid out of a theatre. I’m not talking about 12-year-olds but maybe a six-year-old who would have gone with her parents. Considering it is slotted as a family film, the makers should have taken care of focusing on this aspect. If not, I think it was the censor’s job to look into this very ‘terrifying’ aspect keeping the innocence of the kids in mind. You don’t want your child begging you to take her out of the theatre, do you? Next time filmmakers should keep this aspect in mind when their target audience is the Continue Reading…

Education is in. And it is not just Aamir Khan who is endorsing it through films like ’3 IDIOTS’ and ‘TAARE ZAMEEN PAR’. In fact not just too long ago, there was a small time film called ‘Chal Chalein’ that had explored similar theme by challenging the pressure that parents put on kids when it comes to ‘topping’ in their class. The Mithun Chakravorty starrer wasn’t any great shakes mainly due to shoddy production values but it still was engaging to some extent at least. However, ‘ADMISSIONS OPEN’ doesn’t even anywhere close to ‘CHAL CHALEIN’ which pretty much tells the (sorry) tale.

‘ADMISSIONS OPEN’ looks at an alternate system of education. Nothing wrong with that; after all in India last five years have actually seen some drastic measures being taken when it comes to grading system and subject options. But still, there is some level of discipline, standardisation and seriousness expected to be imbibed into students who are working towards Continue Reading…
